Here to Help You Heal

As a therapist, I aspire to help people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Perhaps you already know the issue you would like to focus on. Maybe you want to better understand yourself or your relationships with others. Or, you may simply sense that something isn’t right and that you would benefit from a change. Whatever brings you in, we can work together to identify the source of your troubles and move toward solutions.

People are experts on their own lives, and I believe they benefit most when heard and validated by empathetic figures. Coming to each patient with an open mind, I look forward to identifying how your life may be improved and what steps we can take to achieve your goals. I specialize in anxiety, depression, multicultural issues, life transitions, and self-esteem for adults, adolescents, and children.

My Approach to Care

I approach my patients with empathy and curiosity. People’s experiences and stories shape our personalities and offer insight into who we are, so I am grateful when they are shared with me. I also recognize that this requires a great deal of trust. As a mixed-race individual with immigrant family members, I’m aware of the challenges that can occur when cultures of any sort intersect. While I am most curious about cultural matters, I’m eager to work with anyone seeking to feel better and improve their circumstances.

You can expect empathy, patience, and no judgment from me. I will strive to be open to you and your life experiences, even when they differ greatly from my own. The methodologies I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and a strengths-based approach.

A Journey into Exceptional Patient Care

My interest in becoming a therapist came from my own experiences as a patient. Therapy proved invaluable to me, helping me through periods of depression, anxiety, and life transition. Through therapy I learned that everyone views the world differently based on their background, and that one’s outward appearance or behavior does not always reflect their internal thoughts or feelings. Before studying to become a therapist, I wore many hats, including software engineer, English teacher, youth sports coach, husband, and parent. I bring this variety of life experiences and skills to each session.

Personal Interests

My greatest passion outside of family and work is drumming, in particular West African and Brazilian percussion. I appreciate that these styles are communal and connect us with history and culture in a manner that is accessible to everyone. I find drumming with others to be meditative and beneficial for mental health. It requires a subtle balance of focus and relaxation. Someday I hope to incorporate drumming in my therapy practice!
